A body that listens in circles.
Thirteen works on paper in which ink and pencil build soft, porous architectures — part ear, part cell, part speech — and circles that keep opening into other circles.
Across thirteen works on paper, Natalia Afentoulidou treats listening as a physical event. Circles open inside circles; ink and pencil accumulate into soft, porous architectures — part ear, part cell, part speech — that seem to be opening and closing at once.
Dots, hatching and small perforations turn the surface into a membrane. Nothing is sealed. The title is there in the forms themselves: openings inside openings, lines that return, a body that keeps beginning again. The titles move through the whole vocabulary of intimacy: I hear you, You hear me, Just leave the door open, Together we thrive. What emerges is less a set of discrete objects than a conversation that keeps changing shape.
