Works on paper · 2026
A body that listens in circles.
Works on paper in which ink and pencil build soft, porous architectures — part ear, part cell, part speech — and circles that keep opening into other circles.
The exhibition Life Comes in Circles brings together works that revolve around an artistic practice grounded in the circle and the possibilities of repetition.
The process begins with the minimal. The circle, also a zero-form, becomes the starting point and the structure of an entire visual world. Its repetition shifts the focus from the individual element to the relationships between elements: rhythm, density, distance, and accumulation. The persistence of a single unit does not lead to sameness, but to difference: a subtle shift, a deviation, a new possibility, a dynamic relationship is introduced.
This systematic practice is connected to an exploration of the boundaries between memory and imagination. Observation is not a record of a given world, but a point of departure for the creation of another. References to the organic world and everyday objects are transformed into unstable forms and hypothetical places, where the familiar acquires a parallel, often unpredictable, version of itself.
These forms retain an ambiguous presence. Humour coexists with the absurd and a subtle sense of unease, while the recognisability of individual elements remains constantly open to question. The image thus functions as a field of transition, where memory, association, and imagination contribute equally to the shaping of perception.
What returns is never entirely the same.
In this sense, drawing takes on the character of an investigative process. Repetition is not merely a formal choice, but a reference to the perpetual pursuit of knowledge. Ultimately, the circle evokes the continuous transformation of things through time. What returns is never entirely the same; it carries traces of what came before and anticipates what is yet to come.
